Bulova Accutron Ref.430
Why We Love It
The reference 430 is one of the more iconic models that was born out of the Bulova Accutron line of watches. This timepiece is imbued with the uninhibited design proclivities typical of the Bulova brand. The distinct textured side-ways egg-shaped case is coupled by an equally distinct radiant pink sunburst dial altogether creating a piece that reserves a palpable joie de vivre.
About the Brand
Czech immigrant Joseph Bulova, inspired by Gerald Ford’s manufacturing innovations, founded the eponymous brand in 1875 and in 1912 established a factory in Biel, Switzerland entirely dedicated to the manufacturing of watches while maintaining complimentary operations in Queens, New York. Of all the lines that Bulova released, Accutron is perhaps the most peculiar for its use of a resonating tuning fork in lieu of a mechanical movement as a means of regulating the time-keeping function. Vintage Bulova timepieces are appreciated universally and are a great value for both veterans of and novices to the world of watches. With the recent relaunch of Accutron in 2020, vintage examples are increasingly sought after.
