Why We Love It

This is an understatedly bold piece maintaining a rather unadorned gold-tone dial and unique attention grabbing mod TV-shaped case. The dial implements hierarchy in a sophisticated way with bold dashes demarcating the 3, 9, & 12 o’clock hours and a date window demarcating the 6 o’clock hour. The watch is ultimately a high-key fun and not-so-low-key classy timepiece that can be worn casually or dressed up.

About the Brand

EDOX was originally founded in 1884 in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland by Christian Ruefli-Flury. Edox only for a brief moment was an affiliate of General Watch Company of ASUAG until it again regained its independence 1983. The company has otherwise been in constant production since its founding and has gained a reputation for offering substantial timepieces suitable for diving, racing, and sailing. The watches have been seen on famous professional racecar drivers, olympic sailors and swimmers, and actors, including Andrew Garfield and Bruce Willis. Muhammad Ali had even wore one when his Cartier got an off-day.

While Edox’s contemporary designs demonstrate a utilitarian and sporty aesthetic, their designs of the 60s & 70s were certainly influenced by the moment. This example certainly showcases that. Vintage Edox is a great gateway into the world of collecting and we’re thrilled to have one as unique as this example in our catalog.
