Why We Love It

The Omega Seamaster 168.0061 is a vintage dress watch with a classic design, high-quality construction, and reliable movement. It is powered by the Omega caliber 1011 chronometer-certified automatic movement, known for its reliability and accuracy. It is a versatile and elegant timepiece that is suitable for any occasion. It is a great choice for everyday wear or special events, and it is also a good investment as relatively few examples remain today.

The 35mm stainless steel case with long, broad lugs gives the watch a slightly larger wrist presence. The dial is a beautiful silver sunburst with applied baton markers and onyx enamel inlay hands. The date window is at 3 o'clock, and the dial is protected by an acrylic crystal.

The watch is considered rare for a few reasons: it was produced for a relatively short period of time, it was not a particularly popular model when new, and Omega did not heavily market it. Overall, the Omega Seamaster 168.0061 is a rare and collectible classic watch with a reliable movement and timeless design. It is a great option for those seeking a unique and valuable timepiece.

About the Brand

Omega, a renowned Swiss luxury watchmaker, has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1848 by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. Initially, the company operated as a small workshop producing pocket watches. Over the years, Omega gained a reputation for precision and innovation, leading to numerous groundbreaking developments in horology.

The Seamaster line, which has become one of Omega's most iconic and enduring collections, was introduced in 1948. Its creation was a testament to Omega's commitment to producing robust, water-resistant timepieces. The Seamaster was designed to commemorate Omega's 100th anniversary and featured an innovative case design with a screw-down case back and O-ring gasket, making it highly waterproof for its time.

Among the various Seamaster models, the reference 168.0061 holds a distinctive place in the Seamaster's history. Introduced in the late 1960s, during a period of style experimentation, the 168.0061 was part of the Seamaster Cosmic collection. These watches, including the 168.0061, catered to a broader audience with their versatile designs and functions. While not specifically designed for professional diving like some other Seamaster models, it showcased Omega's adaptability in crafting well-designed, reliable timepieces to suit different lifestyles.

Throughout its history, Omega has continued to innovate and expand its Seamaster collection, incorporating advanced technologies such as Co-Axial escapements and METAS-certified Master Chronometer movements. The Seamaster's enduring legacy lies in its ability to evolve and meet the diverse needs and tastes of watch enthusiasts, making it a symbol of excellence in Swiss watchmaking. Today, Omega remains a respected and sought-after brand, admired for its precision, durability, and timeless style.
